Bio

ME, BRIEFLY:

I'm intensely curious, and am especially good at locating, assimilating, and streamlining A LOT of information.

I enjoy connecting people to whatever resource, research method, person, or skill that makes their "thing" work.

I'm interested in scholarship as conversation, research as an iterative process, user experience (especially accessible & equitable design), and leveraging pedagogical theory and meta-cognition to improve
information literacy.

First Year Experience
Fall 2020

Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

UNIV 1000, a mandatory First Year Experience course for all incoming undergraduate students at NSU, is designed as both an introduction to the University community and to transitioning into a different period of one's life. Rather than focusing on retaining and regurgitating information or learning to complete discrete tasks, this class is discussion-based, with the bulk of assignments being reflective writing about personal experiences.

Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, students had the option to attend class virtually or in person, so the course was conducted BlendFlex, that is, synchronously on person and virtual at the same time.

AUDIO & VIDEO

Audacity, Garageband, Camtasia, Kaltura Capture

  • My first exposure to the technical side of recording and editing sound came while helping college friends create student movies for their film program. In the years since, I was a co-host and co-producer for two podcasts- Damn Art Majors & Cookish and Bookish. Podcasting requires a surprising amount of project management/organization, technical knowledge, and ability to create, follow, and complete your own workflow.

  • While working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I created asynchronous video tutorials for basic library skills and produced polished video recordings of information literacy workshops.
